The Prosecuting Attorney carries out a broad range of criminal, civil, and advisory duties on behalf of Harrison County and the State of West Virginia.

Criminal Prosecution
- Prosecutes all misdemeanor and felony cases on behalf of the State of West Virginia
- Presents cases to the Grand Jury for felony indictments
- Assists law enforcement with criminal investigations
- Handles juvenile delinquency proceedings in Family Court
- Represents the State in child abuse and neglect cases
Legal Advisory Role
- Serves as legal advisor to the County Commission and all elected county officials
- Drafts and reviews county contracts and legal documents
- Conducts civil litigation on behalf of county agencies
- Appoints special prosecutors when conflicts of interest arise
- Must remain available to advise election officials during elections

- Elected to a four-year term by Harrison County voters
- Must be admitted to practice law in West Virginia by the start of their term
- Authorized to appoint and supervise assistant prosecutors
- Represents the State of West Virginia in all county criminal proceedings
